Nikita's Wish was started by a small group of volunteers that saw the need for a group of compassionate people working together to help animals in need. Our rescued animals are kept in foster homes with other pets where they can be evaluated in a home environment.

Who is Nikita?
Nikita was a beloved family member of one of our volunteers. Here is her story:

Nikita was a very special pet. She was my first "child", best friend, and nanny all in one. She was there for me when I was a teenager, when I was going to college, when I got married and when my daughters were born. She was there to play ball, bark at me when my babies cried, go for walks, clean up after the babies, for a hug when I needed it or just to watch TV with. On March 23, 2001 I had to help Nikita to the Rainbow Bridge. While trying to deal with the devastating loss I came up with a way to honor my best friend. And this is it! That day I started rescuing animals and have been every since. I truly believe this was and is Nikita's Wish.
