We are so excited that you are considering adding a Nikita’s Rescue dog to your family! To start the adoption procedure, fill out the Online Adoption Application. After your application has been reviewed and approved, a volunteer will telephone or e-mail you, usually within 48 hours. During this conversation, the dog’s foster parent will arrange a time for you to visit the pet you applied for. Depending upon your household's situation, a home visit may also be required to ensure that the pet is a good addition to your family. If everything goes well, you will be asked to sign an adoption contract and pay a nominal adoption fee. At this time, your new pet is ready to come to his forever home.

Mixes: $95
Purebred: $150

Please remember that we do not make money from our adoption fees, which barely cover the cost of medical care given to our animals. At the time of adoption, all dogs are current on flea and heartworm prevention medicines and all dog shots, except rabies. All dogs offered for adoption are either spayed or neutered. If a dog is too young to be spayed or neutered when adopted, doing so becomes the responsibility of the adoptive family and must be done within 14 days of the dog coming of age. Nikita’s Wish provides a spay/neuter certificate in these cases.

After much wrestling with the decision, we unfortunately will have to ask a nominal fee from adopters of dogs that live 30 miles or more outside of Kent, OH. With the rising gas prices we are unable to afford home visits longer than 30 miles away and still provide everything needed for our rescued animals. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
